The reception desk that registers its own visitors. FAC’R Lobby is an 11.6-inch desktop terminal built for the one place a wall-mounted reader cannot serve — the front counter, where a visitor has to enter who they are and why they came.

A visitor arriving at reception checks in on the device by entering their ID number and the reason for the visit. The ID is verified through Home Affairs, and once validated a temporary visitor card is issued. Where the estate also runs access control at the main gate, that verification has usually already happened during the gate scan, so the visitor is recognised instantly at reception without repeating any of it. Frequent visitors are classified as Regulars and thereafter get in on a facial scan alone.

BUILT FOR A COUNTER, NOT A DOOR

An 11.6-inch 1920×1080 touch screen at desk height, so a visitor can read the indemnity, pick a host and choose a reason for the visit without a receptionist reading it out. Desktop mounted; this is the only terminal in the range that is not designed for a wall.

ID VERIFIED AGAINST HOME AFFAIRS

The ID number entered at check-in is verified against the National Population Register before a card is issued, so the name on the visitor card is the name on the document rather than whatever was typed at the counter.

FINGERPRINT AS STANDARD

An FBI FAP 10 certified capacitive sensor is fitted as standard rather than as an option — a reception terminal is where enrolment happens, and enrolment is the step that needs the better sensor.

DUAL HDR CAMERA WITH FILL LIGHT

1080p dual cameras with an LED fill light, reading a face from 0.3 to 2 metres in under a second. Liveness detection, fake-face alarm and stranger detection are all supported, so a photograph held up to the lens does not check anybody in.

CARD ISSUING AND CREDENTIALS

ISO14443 A/B and MIFARE contactless reading for the visitor card the terminal issues, and for staff cards presented at the same counter.
